GCSOM currently offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program and a Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) Program. We welcome applicants with diverse experiences to enrich academic performance and service to the community.
We are located in northeastern and north central Pennsylvania with four regional campuses – North (Scranton), South (Wilkes-Barre), West (Williamsport), and Guthrie (Sayre).
We focus our biomedical research and training programs on health issues prevalent in our region. Our students have the opportunity to work directly with our investigators on their research.
We provide a host of personal and academic services to enhance the experiences of our students. Find out about student clubs, career advising, financial resources, and more to help you achieve your individual educational goals
Our academic calendars are determined and managed by the Registrar’s Office and vary based on educational program and year.
We strive to recruit and nurture a workforce dedicated to performance excellence, mutual respect, diversity and the well being of all members of our community, by establishing and supporting policies and practices that are competitive, fair, consistent and clearly communicated.
GCSOM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Our Department of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development also supports faculty recruitment, appointment, promotion, and tenure processes.
We are privileged to have dedicated and skilled educational leadership and more than 1,000 local volunteer clinical faculty members.
We are a community-based, regionally-focused organization. Located in northeastern and north central Pennsylvania, we cover 17 counties and follow a distributive model of medical education that provides students with clinical experiences in diverse settings.
We work with outstanding clinical partners within each regional campus community. Our healthcare delivery partners are each known for the quality of care that they provide and for their commitment to healthcare education programs.
Our Alumni are integral members of GCSOM’s community. We are here to serve you by sharing information about Geisinger Commonwealth and reconnecting you to alumni, faculty, staff, and students.
GCSOM Alumni can give back in many ways. We have a Geisinger Commonwealth Alumni Scholarship fund, a HOST Program, fundraising events, and more.
