MBS Admissions

Geisinger Commonwealth’s Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program is designed to enhance the academic credentials of those seeking to apply to medical and health professions schools and those who are interested in entering the professional fields of public health, scientific research, education or biomedical technology.

If you wish to better academically prepare yourself for the rigors of medical school or want to explore your career options in the health professions field, we invite you to consider our MBS program at Geisinger Commonwealth.

Our MBS program is offered at Geisinger Commonwealth’s North Campus in Scranton, PA, or with the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute (BSBI) at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center in Doylestown, PA. Find out more about our MBS-Doylestown program.

Highlights

  • 36 credit graduate program taught by highly qualified educators
  • Exposure to the same technologies and resources available to our MD students
  • Extensive professional development opportunities including workshops on medical school interviewing and career exploration and preparation
  • The Princeton Review course for preparing to take the MCAT, DAT or GRE is a proven means of improving your score. Some students prefer to take the MCAT in the summer prior to beginning the MBS program. You may choose to plan your schedule this way by opting for our 10-month schedule. Opting for the 12-month schedule allows you to take the Princeton Review course for three credits.
  • Based on meeting established criteria, current MBS students and graduates of the program will be guaranteed an interview for the MD program
