Summer Enrichment Research Internship The Office of Governmental and Community Relations, in collaboration with the Center for Learning Excellence, the Department of Family, Community, and Rural Health Education, and support of the federally funded REACH-HEI Program, co-sponsor Geisinger Commonwealth’s Summer Enrichment program for MD students. Through this program, Geisinger Commonwealth provides summer internship/mentorship opportunities to admitted, first year disadvantaged and/or underrepresented minority students. Such opportunities are research-based and pair students with senior faculty members. The program includes weekly development sessions to help students strengthen study skills, develop individualized learning plans and become familiar with and involved in the local community. The program aims to enhance students’ educational, research and personal performance goals, as well as their overall experience at Geisinger Commonwealth.
