Admissions Committee

Mission/Purpose: The Admissions Committee is charged with oversight and review of the admissions process, provides advice and guidance to the Vice Dean, Dean, and President on issues of admission policy and best practices, and selects students for admission to the College.

Committee on Academic and Professional Standards

Mission/Purpose: The Committee on Academic and Professional Standards (CAPS) is vested with the responsibility of evaluating each medical student’s academic performance, academic integrity, and professional and ethical behavior and making recommendations regarding promotion, dismissal, leaves of absence or any other appropriate actions to the Vice Dean in accordance with the CAPS policy.

Curriculum Action Committee

Mission/Purpose: The Committee is charged with oversight and review of the medical school and other academic degree-granting program curricula. The Committee provides advice and guidance to the Vice Dean and the Dean/President on issues of curriculum innovation, Geisinger Commonwealth student performance, policy and best practices. The Curriculum Action Committee concerns itself with objectives, organization and evaluation of the curriculum leading to the MD and Master in Biomedical Sciences (MBS) degrees, and any other degrees that may be developed. The Committee is empowered by the Dean to develop and implement a coherent and coordinated curriculum in which there is logical sequencing of various segments of the curriculum, coordination within and across the academic periods of study, and appropriate method of pedagogy and evaluation to meet the College’s overall educational objectives.

Graduate Advisory Committee

Mission/Purpose: The Committee is charged with oversight and review of the admissions process to Geisinger Commonwealth graduate programs. The Committee provides advice and guidance to the Vice Dean and the Dean/President on issues of admission policy and best practices. The committee selects and recommends students for the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs to offer places in the upcoming graduate classes. The Committee also monitors graduate student progress, refers students in difficulty for academic or personal assistance and recommends students for graduation who have met program requirements.

Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee

Mission/Purpose: The Committee is charged with oversight and review of the appointment, promotion and tenure process for faculty. The Committee provides advice and guidance to the Vice Dean and the Dean/President on issues of promotion and tenure policy and best practices.
