Engagement The residents in the 17 counties we serve have an essential role in the curriculum for our students. They provide the foundational content for community care and wellbeing by allowing our students into their primary care physician offices and exam rooms. Our students develop meaningful, personal relationships with community members as patients, while they progress through the curriculum. This essential experience facilitates student development as they become empathetic, community-based physicians while furthering our commitment to improve the quality of care throughout our region and state. Our Family Centered Experience (FCE) Program The goal of the FCE program is for the medical student to learn the human aspect and personal family experiences that arise from managing a chronic, serious illness, or disability. Our Clinical Partners Geisinger Commonwealth students gain experience at outstanding clinical partners within our community. Geisinger Commonwealth has affiliation agreements with most hospitals and healthcare systems in our 17-county region. Click here to view our list of clinical partners.
